A Brief History of Electronic Dojo so far…

Dec-2003: Concept Idea as part of Gaming Centre/I-Net Café in Cheltenham called “Electric Waters”. This side of the business would run regular gaming sessions and league to provide a Gaming League for the UK (PGL). Unfortunately the support from the financial backing for Electric Waters never came and idea fell to sleep.

May-2004: Playing SSF2T online via a network system called Kaillera, Electronic Dojo began to organize and run online tournaments to build a small community of player who enjoy playing Street Fighter.

Dec-2006: Knowing of SRK (www.shoryuken.com) as the USA biggest community, which also held the Evolution tournament and in Japan the community holds a tournament called Super Battle Opera (www.tougeki.com). After looking on the internet for a UK community we found Neo Empire. Attending there next available tournament ‘Xmas Party 2006? we meet with the community and a few key members (Golden Gunman, Shin_Dragon, Sho_Dragon, Bulletproof, Chunkis & r3ko to name a few) after a few talks with these guys we could see there was a huge community in the UK wanting more after a failed attempt called ‘Absolution’.

Jan-2007: Electronic Dojo become officially associated with Neo Empire also DNA becomes part of the Neo Empire Team.

Dec-2007: With such a boom of video upload sites (youtube), we looked at developing into another side to benefit the community which we feed. VSFIGHTING was developed to provide players from around the UK to uplaod there videos to a communtiy video upload site soley for vs fighting games.

March-2008: Electronic Dojo introduces Online Ranking-Battles via Kawaks/Kaillera.

April-2008: www.VSFIGHTING.com goes HD, allowing Hi-Def videos to be uploaded.

May-2008: Electronic Dojo finish running online tournaments via Kaillera, due to growing conflicts in emulation and time commitments.

July-2008: Electronic Dojo presents there first tournament in the Midlands UK at Omega Sektor (Birmingham), this event catered for 3D games and had the support from SEGA and UBISOFT. Ubisoft also brought with them a Special European preview of Soul Calibur 4 for the UK players to test.

June-2008: Electronic Dojo in association with Neo Empire brought the UK BIGGEST fighting tournament BATTLE OF DESTINY: Road to Evolution. This tournament brought europes best to battle for a prize of a trip to Las Vegas to enter the EVOLUTION tournament, also first playable versions of Soul Calibur from Ubisoft and Super Street Fighter Turbo: Remix Edition on XBOX (thanks to Capcom/Microssoft) and the WORLD PREMIERE of STREET FIGHTER IV arcade version! Could a tournament have been any better?
